Portrait of the infallible Michael, a great friend and storyteller. Thought I'd try something new, experimenting with oil pastel and oil paint together. The contemporary painter Andrew Salgado heavily inspired me. Here is my first attempt are drawing the background in the same solidity as the portrait. I'm still missing a few key mid tones in the upper lip, but this was a great 4 hours exercise!
